I really enjoyed reading a book about love Faith and finding God's compassion for his children! The author reminds me of Ted Dekker books, tamed way down! I got caught up in the fact that Maddy could fall in love with Jeff after seeing his demon and then his redemption through the Orthodox church! I also love how the author address the issues of diversity, may it be looks or weirdness we are all God's children and need to look into a person's eyes and look past what they may view as something scary. I'm really excited for the next installment in this series and highly recommend it. No matter your beliefs, the story was written for all understanding. Great writing and story

A character-driven tale. You really come to know and like everyone you meet (except for the demons). I enjoyed my time with them.
A touch of quirkiness. This book was a pleasure to read. We may not be vampires, but most of us have problems. The book beautifully depicts the thirst we have for God's grace and how important it is to help each other. I am very much and eagerly looking forward to book 2.
I LOVED this book. Definitely a book that doesn't fit into any single category - paranormal inspiration orthodox romance? I have reliably enjoyed the characters in this author's books, and this book manages to take a fairly absurd plot idea and make it tell real truth. As an Orthodox Christian I enjoyed the sense of community she writes, feels like home. Enjoyably theological, witty, and touching all in one. Looking forward to reading more in this series as they are written! More! More!
Summer kinard really brings back my Cathodic religion. I did convert to Baptists after marriage. I think Summer really brings home the truth about Jeffrey turns to Christ. Excellent writing! I can't wait for the next book. Wendy Billingsley
This is a great read! The author has skillfully woven deep, meaningful thoughts into a very entertaining story.

It takes a deft hand to turn a vampire tale into a primer on soteriology, but Ms. Kinard manages this improbable feat with deceptive ease. I suppose that is what happens when a gifted author who knows her craft also happens to possess a pretty impressive array of formal theology credentials.

I came away from this book with a better understanding of some aspects of my own faith and really caring about the wonderful characters that I met in these pages. I am so looking forward to Book 2!
This book was just all kinds of wonderful. It was a fresh idea... I've never read anything like it. I'm really into romantic stories (guilty pleasure) and vampires tend to peak my interest as well. But I never imagined crossing a romantic vampire novel with Christianity. I am a life-long Christian myself and I learned SO much about my faith from this story. Plus, it was so entertaining, romantic and funny, even. The best part is that this is the first of a series. I'm very much looking forward to the next!
So my path of of faith in Jesus Christ has not been through orthodox Christianity. I found the story of Geoffrey and Maddie to be interesting. Summer's intertwining of their story with orthodox Christianity is well-written. My initial reaction to the story was four out of five stars - however, the fact I have continued to contemplate some parts of story has changed that to five out of five - for other non-orthodox readers, be sure to read the Summer's afterword - it gives the story a different depth & perspective.
